The Archivist
There is quite a bit of history to the DarkNN archives, and it has changed hands over the years. The archives were originally kept by the DarkNN faction's Listmommy Tyra from March 1999 onward but, by 2001, the archives had fallen into disuse and were no longer updated.
Stacy eagerly took over archiving duties in November 2004, with the new website DescentIntoDarkness.Net. The new website's design was created by Kristin of Knight Vision, and oodles of stories were added to the spiffy new website.
Unfortunately, by January 2008, Stacy was no longer able to maintain the new website. So I have since stepped in. I've got the space available (and the new domain DescentIntoDarkness.org) for a bargain basement price and, hey, I got the time to waste too. ;)
Sadly, the DarkNN e-list has also seemed to fall into disuse as well. However, there is hope. This site will be updated on a semi-regular basis (like clockwork, I tell you!) and there is a NN-centric forum available, hosted by Jenn J (which I also frequent). Hopefully these, in tandem, can statisfy one's need for some Nick/Nat love of the darker persuasion.
Eternally yours,
Melissa
Why a new archive?
The most pressing reason for creating a new DarkNN website and archive is so that new fiction can be added to the archive. The original archive hasn't been updated since 1999; since then, there have been many DarkNN fics that have been written. The original site has outdated information about the discussion group, and most of the links are dead.
Stacy, the previous DiD archivist, tried repeatedly for months to contact the owner of the original site, with no results. So she polled the DarkNN group for their opinion and the vote was almost unanimous to create a new site that would contain updated information, new stories, and all of the old works.
She attempted to contact all of the authors who have stories on the original site. She eventually received permission to archive from 3 authors; 4 authors either never responded to her emails or the addresses had bounced. In addition, Judith and Marci have both passed away, much to the FK fandom's sorrow.
If you are one of the authors that Stacy was unable to contact, and you do not want your story here in the archives, please email me and I will (albeit with a pout <G>) remove it from the site. Any additional stories will only be archived with the explicit permission of the author.
I hope you enjoy the look of the new site, and find new fiction to read. Please feel free to with any suggestions.
