Submissions Guidelines

A bit of an explanation is needed here. There has been some discussion in the past as to what "dark" truly means when applied to fanfiction. There is no way to satisfy everyone's personal definition of the term. To some, simply having Nick bite Natalie makes the story "dark". At the other end, some feel that for a story to be "dark", Nick must embrace his nature and Natalie must be brought across.

In creating this archive, I've tried to find a happy medium. Before placing a story here, I've tried to judge it by the following standards:

1. First, it must be a Nick and Nat story. While many things can happen in the course of a story, as long as the end result is that our favorite couple ends up together, then it passes this step.

2. Does Nick embrace the vampire, or at least accept what he is? If the story ends up with Nick becoming mortal, or if he's still pursuing mortality, then it might not belong here.

3. Natalie should accept and even love the vampire in Nick. Preferably, she is brought across or something else happens so that she becomes as immortal as Nick, but it's not necessary.

Still, some stories may be judged "dark" without meeting all three guidelines. For example - a story in which Natalie becomes a vampire but Nick still hopes to one day become mortal again. Another example would be a story in which Nick gives in to the vampire, yet Natalie remains mortal (this usually applies to short, one scene stories, most of which are adult in nature).

Several of the stories at the original DarkNN archive do not meet the above criteria, in my honest opinion. But in order to preserve the original site's archive (because you never know when a site will suddenly disappear), I have copied every story from the original archive. The stories that DO meet the standards I have explained have also been incorporated into the appropriate archives.

I will be adding new (at least, new to the archive) stories as I receive permission from the authors.
